Tourist bus catches fire on way to Berat Castle, suspected to be caused by an electrical spark in the engine

A bus caught fire today at the Berat Castle Pass.
The bus, filled with foreign tourists, started to catch fire while walking towards the Berat Castle.
After the first sparks were noticed at the front of the bus, the driver stopped and the 52 passengers inside, including children, got off the bus. None of the passengers were injured, as they got off before the bus was engulfed in flames.
After sparks appeared in the engine compartment, the fire began to spread inside. Numerous fire and police forces rushed to the scene and fought the flames to extinguish them. As a result of the fire, the bus was completely destroyed. A Benz SUV parked at the door of the house was also destroyed by the flames, the owner of which was unable to move it.
Official police and fire services sources are conducting investigative actions to clarify the causes of the fire, which is initially suspected to have been caused by an electrical spark in the engine. The same sources claim that the bus driver, citizen Ervis Dyrmani, from Durrës, has been taken to the police station, while the police have not yet given any confirmation about the nationality of the tourists on the bus.
