Sokrat Vata reveals his "silence" to investigators, testimonies of Turkish citizens and friends of the victim are revealed
Sokrat Vata, the 29-year-old arrested for the murder of the Portuguese tourist in Ksamil, has been questioned by the investigation team regarding the circumstances of the serious crime, but has chosen not to give any statement to investigators.
As part of the investigation, two Turkish citizens who were accompanying Vata during his escape attempt were also questioned. In the presence of interpreters, they stated that they were regular customers at the "Principotes" bar and that they paid the 29-year-old as a bodyguard and personal escort. They explained that they had taken Vata in the vehicle simply because of the social relationship they had established with him.
Investigators have also questioned the victim's friends, who have explained the dynamics of the incident. According to their testimonies, the fight is suspected to have initially started after a girl was harassed inside the bar.
The conflict involved many people fighting with each other, a situation in which security guards also intervened.
The 20-year-old Portuguese tourist had only intervened to separate the parties involved in the collision before being fatally struck.
