Sokrat Vata, the perpetrator of the murder of 20-year-old Frenchman Miguel Mendes this morning in Ksamil, has been arrested in Fier.
He was arrested in Fier, where he was hiding in the trunk of a car driven by a girl and another person as a passenger.
The 20-year-old had several stab wounds to the back and chest and his death was instantaneous.
The 20-year-old Frenchman was in Ksamil with a group of French tourists. The perpetrator, 29-year-old Sokrat Vata, was employed as a lifeguard at the hotel.
Sokrat Vata was arrested in England after being involved in two police pursuit cases related to cocaine trafficking and dangerous driving.
On April 30, police in Cambridge caught him driving a stolen Toyota. Vata tried to leave, but the passenger got out of the car and he continued his escape on foot. During the chase, he threw a package of cocaine into the bushes, but was caught by police. He was also found with £560, and tested positive for driving under the influence of drugs.
Meanwhile, in another incident in Kent, on April 13, Vata disobeyed a police order to stop and crashed into a vehicle with cloned license plates. Bags of cocaine and license plates were found in the car.
Vata was subsequently arrested and appeared at Cambridge Crown Court, where he pleaded guilty to possession of a class A drug with intent to supply, dangerous driving, possession of cannabis and driving under the influence of drugs. He was sentenced to five years in prison.
