Fire at the "Brooklyn" Hotel in Vlora, the 25-year-old woman with severe burns is sent to Turkey for treatment

25-year-old Ana Dyrmishi, who two days ago suffered burns to about 85% of her body surface after a fire at the "Brooklyn" hotel in Vlora, has left for specialized treatment in Turkey.
Her serious condition requires specialized intervention and treatment for patients with severe burns, while the transfer abroad once again highlights the capacities offered by the Albanian healthcare system for complicated cases.
While the Rama government has repeatedly stated that healthcare has been one of the priority sectors for investment, cases of patients seeking treatment abroad highlight the limited capacity in our hospitals.

The fire broke out at around 04:05 on the morning of August 16, in the interior of the "Brooklyn" hotel, in the "10 Korriku" neighborhood, on the Lungomare of Vlora.
According to the Vlora Police, after reviewing security camera footage, the fire is suspected to have been accidental and started from a burning electrical outlet in the refrigerator in the restaurant premises.
The flames spread through the hotel while the holidaymakers were in their rooms. The situation became particularly dangerous on the second floor, where some of the holidaymakers were trapped by smoke and flames. Some of them, to escape the fire, were forced to jump out of windows and from a height, suffering injuries.
Injured persons
According to the official Police announcement, 6 people were injured. Five of them were transported for treatment in Tirana, while another received medical assistance at the Vlora Regional Hospital.

Aldo Kasimi, 30 years old – burns on about 30% of the body;
Ndorina Rexhepi, 25 years old;
Arlinda Rexhepi, 27 years old;
Erza Grainca, 21 years old;
Luan Saliu, 21 years old.
Some of the injured suffered injuries from jumping from the second floor, while others suffered burns and injuries from exposure to flames and smoke.
