US seizes Iran-linked oil tanker in Indian Ocean

US forces have seized an Iranian-linked oil tanker in the Indian Ocean, according to international media reports citing US officials.

The ship, identified as the "Skywave", had been under US sanctions since March, on suspicion of being used to transport Iranian oil to international markets.

According to the same sources, the tanker was carrying over a million barrels of oil, loaded in February from Kharg Island, one of Iran's main oil export points.

The seizure comes at a time of ongoing tensions over the implementation of international sanctions against Iran and the networks that deal with its oil exports.
