France braces for fifth heatwave since June

France is bracing for its fifth heatwave since June this week, with 22 departments placed under an orange heat alert today, Anadolu reports.
The national weather service, Meteo-France, issued an orange heat alert for 22 departments across the country as temperatures are forecast to approach 40 degrees Celsius with the arrival of the heatwave.
Meteo-France warned that the fire risk level will remain high in many departments on Monday and Tuesday.
The country is set to experience its fifth heatwave since June, with temperatures expected to soar across much of the country and occasionally exceed 40 degrees Celsius. The peak of the next heatwave is expected in the middle of the week, according to broadcaster BFMTV.
While Friday is expected to be hot as well, temperatures are forecast to cool. Rain is expected on Saturday, mainly in the eastern parts of the country, potentially bringing relief from the heat.
