Fire started near Tirana Municipality warehouses and an electrical cabinet, elderly arsonist arrested in Tirana

A 70-year-old man, identified as Sami Aliu, who is the author of two arson attacks in two areas of Tirana, has been arrested by the Police. The "Blues" report that yesterday the elderly man started a fire near the warehouses of the Tirana Municipality.

On Saturday, he set fire to some bushes near an electrical booth in the Shkoza area, causing extensive damage to the surrounding land.

Meanwhile, in its announcement, the police have an appeal to citizens, urging them not to light fires under any circumstances, as they will face the law.

The suspected perpetrator of 2 arsons in the last 2 days, in Lundë and Shkozë, has been arrested.

As a result of fires near the Municipality's warehouses and an electrical cabinet, there was extensive damage to the surrounding land surfaces.

As a result of investigative and operational actions, carried out immediately after the reports of arson, in addition to the assistance provided to the fire services to extinguish the flames, the services of Police Commissariat No. 1 identified and arrested within 48 hours of the start of the 2 fires, their suspected perpetrator, citizen SA, 70 years old.

This citizen is suspected of having set fire to several bushes near an electrical booth in the village of Shkozë on 08/08/2026, in the village of Lundër.

The procedural materials were referred to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for further action.

The State Police once again appeals to all citizens not to light fires under any circumstances, as they will face the law.

It also invites citizens to report any case of illegality to the number 112, guaranteeing anonymity and immediate response.
