The music world is still shocked/ Ex-partner Cheryl Cole reacts: Liam was not

Cheryl Cole, the mother of Liam Payne's son, has spoken out following the singer's sudden death. The singer has made a post on Instagram to remember the former member of One Direction.

As I try to move past this life-shattering event, and deal with my deep pain at this excruciating time, I would like to remind everyone that we have lost a human being.

Liam wasn't just a pop star and a household name, he was a son, a brother, an uncle, a dear friend and a father to our 7-year-old son. A son who now has to face the reality of never seeing his father again.

What worries me most is the thought that one day, Bear will have access to the disgusting reporting and media exploitation we've seen in the last couple of days. It breaks my heart even more that I can't protect him from this in his future.

Please consider what purpose some of these reports serve, other than to cause further damage to all those left picking up the pieces. Before leaving comments or making videos, ask yourself if you would want your child or family to read them.

Please give Liam the little dignity he has left after his death to finally rest in peace.

Payne and Cole dated from 2016 to 2018. They first met in 2008 while Payne was a contestant on The X Factor UK. At the time, Cole - who is a member of the girl group Girls Aloud - was a judge on the show. Payne returned to the show two years later in 2010, when Simon Cowell put him together with Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson to form One Direction.
