Russia has confirmed that Vladimir Putin will hold a phone conversation with US President Donald Trump tomorrow (March 18).
"Yes, that's correct, such a conversation is being prepared for Tuesday," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said this morning, after being asked by reporters whether Putin would hold a phone conversation with Trump.
Meanwhile, Peskov did not provide details about the phone call expected to take place tomorrow between the two leaders.
"We never reveal in advance ," said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
He said that “a lot of work was done over the weekend,” adding that they would see if they had “anything to announce” on Tuesday.
On Sunday evening, Donald Trump told reporters that he would speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday.
News of the Putin-Trump phone call comes a week after U.S. and Ukrainian delegates met in Saudi Arabia, where they announced the prospect of a 30-day ceasefire, the first step toward ending the war.
However, the US is still trying to convince Russia to abide by the ceasefire agreement.
Of the talks with Putin, Trump said: "I think we're going to talk about land. It's a lot different than it was before the war, as you know. We're going to talk about power plants, that's a big question mark.
"We want to see if we can bring that war to an end. Maybe we can, maybe we can't, but I think we have a very good chance."
