Rodri asks Barcelona star for his shirt number, here's what's expected to happen

Rodri has reportedly asked Fermin Lopez to give up the number 16 shirt, as the Manchester City midfielder is close to a move to Barcelona.

The 30-year-old has been linked with a move away from Manchester City this summer and has reportedly chosen Barcelona over rivals Real Madrid.

Barcelona have reportedly reached an agreement to transfer Rodri for around 75.3 million euros, with the deal expected to be made official soon. The Spain international is expected to sign a four-year contract with the Catalan club.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Rodri wants to continue wearing the number 16, which he has used throughout his career, and he made this request known to Fermin Lopez during recent conversations between them.

Lopez is expected to move to the number 7 shirt, which has previously been held by famous footballers such as Ousmane Dembele and Antoine Griezmann.

Meanwhile, another important number has remained vacant at Barcelona. Following the departure of Robert Lewandowski, the number 9 shirt is still without a new owner.

According to Spanish outlet SPORT, Barcelona is keeping this number for its long-term transfer target, Julian Alvarez, who continues to be linked with a transfer to the Catalan giants.

Meanwhile, Karim Adeyemi, another Barcelona signing this summer, has reportedly shown a preference for the number 14 shirt.
