Trump harshly attacks Iran: A failed nation, leadership in total disarray

US President Donald Trump has escalated his rhetoric against Iran, calling the country a "failed nation" and attacking its leaders following a new military escalation between the two countries.

In a post on his social network Truth Social, Trump said that the Iranian leadership is in "total disarray" and that, according to him, it is unable to properly represent the country.

The US president's statement comes after the US and Iran exchanged attacks overnight. US forces struck Iranian targets on the island of Larak, while Iran responded with missile attacks on US bases in Jordan.

The latest escalation marks the return of direct clashes after a relatively calm period, while the Strait of Hormuz remains one of the conflict's hottest spots.

At the same time, the Trump administration is also increasing economic pressure on Tehran, with new sanctions targeting financial networks and institutions that cooperate with Iran.
